The vertical expansion of the structural development has become unavoidable due to increasing demand of living space and associated facilities particularly in the city centers of the world. The phenomenon consumes concrete aggregates in huge quantum. on the other hand, the space problem in city center of the world requires demolishing of old structures to build new structures with more capacity. It generates demolishing waste in large quantities. Demolishing waste generally goes in landfills, which on other hand poses serious social and environmental issues. Particularly in under developing countries like Pakistan with agriculture as main source of GDP; dumping of the aggregates creates serious issues to the agricultural land. Therefore, since past few-decades utilization of this waste in new concrete has remained active area of research among the scholar and researchers. The idea not only reduces waste management issues and environmental problems but also helps in preserving the natural sources of the aggregates. This research work presents the experimental study on the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams made with partial replacement of 50% of natural coarse aggregates with recyclable aggregates from old demolished concrete. 18 reinforced concrete beams of size 75" x 6" x 12 were east and used I :2:4 mix and 0.5 water/cement ratio in three groups. In each group fifty percent beams were cast with all-natural coarse aggregates and remaining fifty percent with 50% replacement of natural coarse aggregates with aggregates from old demolished concrete. To reinforce the beams #4 deformed bars were used as main reinforcement and #3 bars were used in rings. The curing of the beams was done by fully immersing in water for 28 days. Three beams were tested for maximum load, 50% of which is used as the long-term sustained load. All the beams were mounted on purpose made frames for age of 6, 9 and 12 months. The sustained load was applied with the help of screw jacks and load cells. The deflection, strain and cracking were observed in the beams on daily basis. Comparison of the results of proposed beams with control specimens shows that under sustained load both deflection and strain increase due to introduction of recycled aggregates. It was observed due to duration of the sustained load. Maximum deflection and strain after six-month sustained loading were recorded equal to 2.22 mm and 0.00252 respectively. The same after nine and twelve-month sustained loading is equal to 2.34 mm and 0.00261 and 2.58 mm and 0.00278. The maximum increase in eflection and strain is observed with twelve-month sustained loading. Dominant cracking in the beams is flexural cracks. However in few beams minor diagonal cracks were also observed. The maximum crack width in all proposed beams is recorded equal to 0.55. The widest crack was even less than I mm. The beams, after elapse of successive sustained loading duration, are tested in universal testing machine till failure. Ultimate load, deflection, cracking and failure mode are observed. Maximum reduction in ultimate load and maximum increase in deflection in proposed beams are recorded equal to 3.04% and 19.5%. The failure mode in almost all the beams was observed as flexural failure. Regression analysis of experimental observation for deflection and strain was also done to develop numerical equation to estimate the deflection and strain under sustained loading. The counter check of the developed equations shows good agreement between predicted and experimental observations. Results show that the behavior of proposed beams under sustained loading for proposed duration of time is in good agreement with control specimens. Therefore, the use of the material in new reinforced concrete beams is a viable solution to reduce waste management and environmental issues and may be used as substitute of coarse aggregates to produce green concrete. The outcome is particularly good for Pakistan to save agricultural land from dumping of the demolishing waste. It also sets landmark for future research in the field and guidelines for industry personals. Beside this, old structures are demolished, new buildings are being erected rapidly, hence demolished and construction waste is generated, which poses the serious problems of environmental issues and need of space for dumping. A better way of dealing with this waste is by utilizing it in new concrete. It will not only reduce the waste but also saves environment and natural deposits of the aggregates. This research work uses old concrete as partial replacement of coarse aggregates in new concrete. Large blocks of demolished concrete are collected and processed manually by hammering down to a size approximately equal to 1-inch. Fundamental properties, such as water absorption, specific gravity, unit weight and density of this material are evaluated. These properties show increased water absorption and reduced specific gravity, unit weight and density of recyclable aggregates in comparison to natural coarse aggregates. Total of 120 reinforced concrete beams are cast in this experimental investigation; 60 beams with 50% replacement of natural coarse aggregates with coarse aggregates from old demolished and same are cast with all natural coarse aggregates. Two mixes i.e 1:2:4 (normal mix) and 1:1.5:3 (rich mix) with water cement ratio of 0.5 are used. Beams are reinforced with 2#4 deformed bars of 60 grade in tension and compression zones with #3 bars of same strength as stirrups at 6" c/c spacing along the length of the beam. For all beams, the dimensions are kept same equal to 36"x6"x6". After casting, beams were cured for 28-day by fully immersing in water. Then the beams are exposed to fire for 0, 6, 12, 18 and 24 hours in purpose made oven at 1000 degree centigrade. Analysis of the results shows decrease in flexural strength and increase in deflection of all the beams for all fire durations. With increase in duration of fire, increased reduction in flexural strength is observed. Minimum and maximum reduction in flexural strength of recycled reinforced concrete beams cast with normal mix is recorded equal to 20.37% and 59.15% for 6-hour and 24-hour fire duration respectively. The same for rich mix concrete beams is observed equal to 22.33% and 68%. The rich mix reinforced concrete beams with recyclable aggregates observed more reduction in flexural strength due to more cement content in the beams. Similar trend of higher deflection is observed in the beams with increase of 130% and 128% for normal and rich mix beams at maximum fire duration. Regression analysis is done to develop numerical equation for predicting the flexural strength of proposed reinforced concrete beams. For the purpose NCSS and Microsoft Excel are used. It is observed that the predicted equations from both software's are almost same with minor difference in few coefficients. These equations are then used to compute the flexural strength. The obtained results are compared with the experimental observations. It is found that both sets of the results are in good agreement. As a result demolishing of old structures, hence a huge quantum of demolished waste generated. This waste need to be disposed off properly without creating adverse effects to the surroundings. On the other hand new construction need raw material to be used. Concrete structures make extensive use of aggregates thus natural resources of the aggregate goes on decreasing every day. Both of these problems are interrelated thus the idea of reusing demolished waste was increasingly become popular. It not only saves the natural resources of the aggregates but also provides a good measure of reducing waste management. Therefore this research work proposed the experimental evaluation of flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams made by partially placing the naturally aggregate with demolished concrete waste. Demolished concrete is collected from the Nawabshah city. Large blocks of demolished concrete are broken into smaller pieces and sieved to maximum of one inch size. Basic properties of these aggregates i.e water absorption and specific gravity are evaluated and compared with properties of natural aggregates to have good insight of the aggregates. Five batches of beams (total 30 beams) reinforced with # 4 bars main bars and #2 bars as stirrups are caste with 0%, 50%, 60%, 70% and 80% replacement of the natural coarse aggregates with demolished waste concrete aggregates. The dimensions of all the beams are kept same (36"x6"x6"). In addition to beams six cylinders of standard dimensions are also prepared to evaluate and compare the compressive strength. 1:2:4 concrete mix is used for all beams with 0.45 to 0.55 water absorption ratio of demolished concrete aggregates. Therefore to maintain the slump with higher percentages of recycled aggregates demand higher water cement ratio. After curing all the beams and cylinders for 28 days, beams are tested using central point load for flexural strength and cracking behavior of the beams is observed. The test results of this research work indicated that minimum reduction in flexural strength is 12% in comparison to beams made with 100% natural aggregates. Whereas the maximum reduction in strength recorded is 29.6%. Although the first crack appeared at lesser load than in case of the beams made with 100% natural aggregates, but the behavior and position of crack was same in both cases. Based on the result of this research work it can be concluded that 88% strength can be achieved with 50 % replacement of natural aggregates with demolished waste concrete aggregates. Therefore it can effectively be used in the areas of moderate or low load.

The fluidity of concrete has made it possible to construct eye catching structures. To ensure serviceability and quality of concrete structures, strength is the one of the parameters which must be checked. For the purpose cubes or cylinders are prepared from the mix being used at site. These cubes or cylinders after proper curing are tested for the strength checking. The standard size of cube is 6"x6", however if unavailable any size of cube mould may be used. If size of cube used is other than standard size, then compressive strength obtained will be different than that of standard size cube. Therefore correction factor must be used to correlate strength of cube being tested with standard size cube. Therefore an experimental work is carried out to check the effect of various cube sizes and curing age on compressive strength. For this purpose 400 cubes are prepared using I 00 cubes of each size of 4"x4", 6"x6", 9"x9" and 12"x12" cured for 7, 28, 91, and 180 days. The ratio proportions of 1:2:4 with water cement ratio 0.45 is used for all cubes. After completion of curing specimens are tested to determine the compressive strength. The obtained results of compressive strength are given in tabular and graphical form. In this connection two tables are prepared in for strength correction due to different size (Table 5.9) and curing ages (Table 5.10). These coefficients can be applied to strength results to obtain equivalent strength of cubes of standard size (6"x6") cured at standard age (28 days). In both of the tables co-efficient values obtained showed good agreement with theoretical anticipated values except for 9"x9" size cubes which are obtained less than one. Normally cement, Bolhari sand and crush are used as the ingredients of CMU. However availability of Bolhari sand in many regions is made by transporting it from far distances which makes the resulting product expensive. To this end use of alternative material in place of Bolhari sand remained active area of research since long.In this experimental work partial replacement of Bolhari sand with local sand is proposed and studied. In this experimental work 0% - 70% (with 10% increment) replacement of Bolhari sand with local sand is used. Local sand is washed in purpose made tank with # 200 sieve at outlet. Eight batches of concrete masonry units are prepared. Each batch contains 6 specimen.All specimen are prepared in the sizeof 4" x 8" x 12". Concrete mix 1:4:8 with W/C ratio of 0.45 used for production of the CMU. Local sand is obtained from the vicinity of Nawabshah region and washed in tank with No. 200 sieve at outlet before using it. Ingredients are mixed in mixer and molds are prepared in standard fashion using concrete masonry unit making machine. Curing of sample is done for 7 and 28 days period. Finally compressive strength of all specimen are evaluated using universal load testing machine both in horizontaJ and vertical position. Concluded outcome discovered that compressive strength of concrete masonry unit tested in horizontal position is recorded 720 psi (minimum) for 70% replacement and 1385 psi (maximum) 40% replacement. Minimum and maximum compressi ve strength results recorded for vertical position are 500 psi for 70% and 1206 psi for 40% replacement respectively. On the other hand 28 day cured CMU tested in horizontal position gave 747 psi for 70% and 1511 psi for 40% replacement as minimum and maximum compressive strength values. The same for vertical position are recorded as 554 psi for 70% and 1315 psi for 40% replacement respectively. Final results confirmed use of local sand as replacement of Bolhari sand with posi tive effect on compressive strength and it is also found that 40% replacement of the Bolhari sand with local sand gives better results.

The utilization of th is waste has a positive effect on the economy and the preservation of natural aggregates. ln this research work, evaluation of compressive strength of green concrete with used concrete of Nawabshah as recycled coarse aggregate is studied. Old concrete is collected from city area of Nawabshah from demolished residential building at Mohni bazaar(slab and staircases waste of the buildings is utilized) .7 batches of concrete are prepared with replacement of 0%, 5%, 15%, 25%, 35%, 45% and 50% recycled coarse aggregates. Mix ratio of I :2:4 with 0.45 - 0.60 w/c ratio is used for the purpose. Total number of 54 cylinders with virgin aggregates and 324 cylinders with recycled aggregates using d ifferent percentages are prepared and cured for 7, 14 and 28 days. Laboratory tests have been conducted for basic properties and compressive strength . According to the resu lts of this study, it is concluded, with increased percentage of recycled coarse aggregates compressive strength decreases. Even replacing 50% recycled coarse aggregate 26% reduction was observed. However, it can be used effectively in the construction works, i.e. for construction of C. C flooring outside the building , footpaths , part ition walls, sun shade. column for boundary wall!>, top roof slabs etc.

Construction of new buildings in place of old structures in present era is unavoidable particularly in city centers to compensate the growing population and migration from other areas. But this leads to extensive demolishing waste which needs proper management. If this waste can be utilized in new construction, then will not only reduce the waste management but also saves natural sources of aggregates. Any of the structure during its service life has to face lot of hazards, fire is one among them. The behavior of reinforced concrete structures during and after fire has remained active research area. This research work combines both aspects to study the effect of fire on concrete cubes made by replacing 50% natura l coarse aggregates with coarse aggregates from demolished concrete. Demolished concrete in the shape of large blocks is collected. from Nawabshah city. These large blocks are then processed to maximum of I “size by hammering and sieving. Using I :2:4 m ix total of 180 cubes in two batches are prepared. In one batch I 00% natural coarse aggregates are used and in second batch 50% natural coarse aggregates are replaced with coarse aggregates from demolished concrete. All cubes are cured for 7, 14 and 28 days. After elapsed time cubes are tested for compressive strength. The Obtained results are presented in both tabular and graphical format to compare with reference concrete. 7 day cured cubes observed strength reduction of 23.05% at zero hour fire in comparison to reference concrete. Whereas these values for 3, 6, 9 and 12 hours are 25.28%. 30.57%, 37.26% and 47. 14% respectively. These results show that concrete cubes with recycled aggregates survived 75% strength for 3 hour fire and about 53% strength for 12 hour fire. In comparison to 7 days cured cubes the results of 14 days cured with respect to reduction in strength or survived compressive strength arc hcttcr.28 days curing is the standard curing to be done in every project. Compressive strength result of this curing age, in comparison to result of 7 days and 14 days curing are better wit about 6% result for 3 hour fire and about 25% reduction for 12 hour fire. 12 hour is normally good Enough time to control fire hence can be said that even if fire prolongs for 12 hours recycled concrete can survive up to 75% of its strength. also it is observed from graphical presentation of results that associative from of decrease in strength is same and associative behavior of cubes remained same. graphical presentation of results that associative form of decrease in strength is same and associative behavior of cubes remained same.

An automotive of it is to make use of concrete waste in new construction. Therefore research to evaluate such possibilities started and is active these days. This research were conducted experimental evaluation of strength deflection and cracking behavior of reinforced of concrete slabs made with recycled aggregate from demolished concrete waste as partial replacement of natural coarse aggregate. The replacement is done in 50%, 60%, 70% and 80% proportion to compare the results one batch of slab is cost with 100% natural aggregate. Demolished concrete is collected from various location of Nawabshah. Bulky pieces of concrete are hammered down the maximum size of I " inch followed by evaluation of basic properties of aggregate. In addition to slabs, four cylinders from each batch of concrete are also prepared to evaluate compressive strength. For all batches of concrete 1:2:4 is used with 0.45-0.55 water cement ratio. Cylinders are tested for compressive strength and maximum reduction in strength is obtained as 12.6% for 50% replacement of natural coarse aggregate with recycled concrete aggregate. All slabs are tested by applying central point load. Average reduction in load carrying capacity is recorded as 7.1% for 50% replacement of natural aggregates. Maximum deflection recorded is 4.4mm which is with in allowable limits of ACI 318. Cracking behavior of all slabs is also observed and it is found that cracking pattern remained almost same for all models how ever reduction in cracking load with increased percentages of recycled aggregate is recorded. Based on result it is concluded that coarse aggregates from demolished concrete can effectively be used in reinforced.
